Congrats to our coach Ali Shafaie on being named NJ.com Fencing Coach of the Year! Coach Ali was the head coach for the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) Fencing Team this season and they finished the regular season undefeated at 8-0! They also tied for 3rd at the Cetrulo Championships (Featuring 55 HS Teams from NJ/NY/PA), and 3rd in the District 5 Championships! Among these results, Coach Ali also had 3 fencers qualify for the State Individual Championships (Samuel Belokon in Foil, Matthew Kim & Erick Shi in Sabre)! The CBA team also qualified for the Team State Tournament, which featured the top 3 teams from all 6 districts in NJ HS Fencing. #8 seeded CBA defeated #9 Bernards at home in the Sweet 16 before falling to the eventual champions Chatham in the Elite 8. Congrats to our coach and the entire team on a spectacular season!
