Our fencers had a great showing in our own Epee Open on 6/26! The event had 23 fencers and was an A1 event. Ali Shafaie finished in 1st place, earning his A22 rating! Ali had 4 pool victories in a pool of five fencers, then went on to win 15-5 (round of 16 vs. Shapiro), 15-14 (quarter-finals vs Aravind), 15-5 (semi-finals vs. R. Kokenge), and 13-12 in the final against teammate Shawn Agaon.
Shawn finished with a 3-2 pool record, and came into the DE’s as the #9 seed. He won 15-7 (round of 16 vs. Rittman), 15-14 (quarter-finals against C. Kokenge), 15-3 (semi-finals vs Shrem), and lost in the finals. It was a great day for him, as he renewed his B2022 rating as well!
